Thanks Wake Me. I always wondered why my parents never trusted doctors and would not allow me to have vaccinations as a kid. Even though they came into the cult in 1953 those old teachings was still holding on to many members. I do remember the 1967 teaching on organ transplants. At a assembly I was at they had one person dressed up like a heart on stage. Trying to convince everyone that during the development of a person the heart and the brain develop in the same place. So if you receive a transplanted heart then you will start having the same feelings from the person you got the heart from. Such nonsense!!! Still Totally ADD

JW Parents and kicking out their children
by NJ501 inis it a common practice for jw parents to kick their children out of the home, if the child doesn't want to be a jw.
(even though their not disfellowshipped they will still get kicked out for not going to meetings etc.??).
do other religions encourage kicking family members out this as well?

Twenty-twenty years ago our oldest son was DF. He was eighteen just out of high school. He was scared to death we was going to kick him out but that never came to our mind. Instead we try to help him in anyway we could even sending him to a trade school so he could support himself. To this day he is using those skills to support his family. During this time I was servering as a elder. When the CO came for his visit he did every thing in his power to remove me but the body of elders said no to him. He made sure a letter was sent with the congregation report to the WT. Also many of our so called friends marked us and had nothing to do with us. After one year our son was reinstated. He finished his trade school and started working. In other words we stuck with our son through thick and thin. Forward fifteen years when my wife and I woke up and left the cult, guess what happen? He started to shun us and continues to do so. All I am saying it works both ways. Still Totally ADD

Some Good News About Me (Although Anthony Morris Will Be Furious)
by pale.emperor injust wanted to share with you some good news i'm really excited about.
i have been accepted for university to study psychology and counseling.
my goal is to become a counselor and, in time, to specialize on treating those who have left high control relationships/groups like we all did.. it'll take a few years before im qualified but studying in university has been a dream of mine since i was 12, which was systematically dashed to pieces by watchtower.. .

Thank you TheFadingAlbastros for your experience. Here in the US I am under the dictation of a insurance company. I may be wrong, but it's not do anything and suffer for the rest of my life or get surgery. My back is in a serious way and surgery looks like my only option. Waiting for that new system made me over look this problem for a long time. Good advice. Still Totally ADD

Thank-you for the information on the book LisaRose. I have so far kept off any narcotic pain pills. I have been able to function for many years with certain exercises but since the accident nothing works. I have severe stenosis with a bulging disk. It effects both my legs with what I call electric shocks up both legs. Very painful when I sneeze or cough. All I know is I am bending over more and more when I walk. I am just paying the price of all the heavy construction work I did for forty years. Still Totally ADD

Has anyone else known or has gone through this problem before? I am now in the process of making all the arrangements for the surgery. I would like to hear any experiences you all may have. I am only 63 years old but function but feel like I am twice the age. Still Totally ADD

Happy one year out of the cult anniversary. I like your realistic approach to life. Some downs but many ups. It has been 6 1/2 years now for my wife and I still sometimes think about praying before I eat. Also read the same book by Dawkins. It really help me to become a non believer in God. Life for us is good and we have made many new friends. Take care and keep up the good work. Still Totally ADD

What changes would JW.org need to make to become a normal Christian denomination.
by UnshackleTheChains ini am interested in getting people's thoughts on this.
on average 40 thousand people leave the organisation yearly for one reason or another.
the experiences all over the media are proof of this.

For me, they need to apologize for the child abuse that has taken place all these years. Stop the kangaroo courts system with the two witness rule and the way they side with evil ones in the congregation and start protecting the innocent ones. That would be a big step forward. Stop having the attitude you cannot trust the flock to do the right thing. My 2 cents worth. Still Totally ADD
